There’s a huge amount of information in that spaghetti bowl of lines in a ship plan, and to truly understand a ship, you have to understand how to interpret that information.
It requires all those lines to accurately depict a three-dimensional object on a two-dimensional piece of paper. Once you learn what those lines are, and how each line on one plan view is also depicted in the other two, you will not only be able to envision the shape of a ship’s hull, you can easily plan how to build a scale model of it.
