Whaling as an industry lasted into the 20th Century, and whaling vessels have long been a mainstay of ship modeling. But most subjects are the ships that rendered the whales into oil after they were captured by fearless crews in small whaleboats. These are the plans of a French 6-meter whaleboat that would have done the dangerous work of getting close enough to harpoon the whale. Because of its small size, it could be modeled to a larger scale making it possible to show detail work that one could never show on a model of a whaling ship. Check out her plans.
